We chose organic cotton for our printed fabrics and linings. By eliminating synthetic pesticides and fertilisers, organic cotton helps to keep waterways and drinking water safe and clean. Organic cotton farming is more energy efficient and promotes healthy organic soils thus helping to combat climate change. Our cotton providers are GOTS registered, that’s the Global Organic Textile Standard.
Our stuffing is manufactured from recycled plastic bottles and retains all the qualities of polyester whilst having excellent eco-credentials. Recycled polyester, also known as rPET, is obtained by melting down existing plastic and re-spinning it into new polyester fibre. Despite being a recycled product, it has all the qualities of virgin polyester: it has spring and bounce and is machine washable.
Natural essential oils
Contrary to their synthetic counterpart, essential oils are organic compounds extracted from plants that have healing properties. This is very often called aromatherapy, which is a holistic treatment seeking to improve physical, mental, and emotional health. Simply put, essential oils are derived from plants and fragrance oils are a mystery concoction of undisclosed synthetic chemicals.
Agave is an undemanding plant which is located in the dry areas of the world, meaning it does not need a large amount of water to grow. It takes about four years until it’s ready for harvest. In this growing phase, other plants like corn or beans are cultivated between the agaves which counteract monocultures and improve the soil quality due to humification of harvest residues. Like hemp, agave doesn’t need any fertilisers or pesticides.
Derived from the humble soybean, soy wax is a hydrogenated vegetable oil that turns to a solid at room temperature. Soy wax contains nothing artificial, which makes it a better alternative to old-fashioned paraffin wax, made from petroleum oil and produces harmful by-products when burned or melted. Soy wax, on the other hand, is 100% natural, 100% renewable and 100% environmentally friendly.
